Overwhelmed

Image
Mikayla Quade Flash Fiction You don’t think your ready to move out or grow up. You finally realize just how difficult life is actually going to be. You think you’ve been living in a perfect world, WAKE UP, it’s just a dream. Now your kind of scared thinking about college and what your next steps going to be. You know in your mind that your current friends might not be the best influence on you. Your very stressed out and wish you could stay a teen forever, never having to grow up. It would be so cool if N ever-Land actually existed because then you wouldn’t have to grow up. But then you realize that’s just wishful thinking. You know you need to start acting your age. Sometimes you wish you could trade places with your younger sister. Her life seems so much easier. You don’t know what you want to be or what you want to do with your life. She already has pretty much everything planned out. She also has better grades than you so you feel stupid sometimes. In gen...

Anxious

Image
Flash Fiction: You like to learn. But you hate the anxiety and stress school brings you. Waking up every morning sick knowing you have to start getting ready for school. You tell yourself five more minutes won’t hurt, you need it. You finally wake up and start getting ready, thoughts running through your head “what if I have really bad anxiety today” “what if there’s a test over something I don’t know how to do”. But you tell yourself “you’ll be fine, school isn’t that bad”. The drive to school is fine. You enter the parking lot and the feel of school just makes things worse. Walking to class thoughts run through your head “You’re doing fine in this class” “One more day won’t effect anything”. Today you fight the thoughts and go to class but deep down you know you’ll be struggling to fight them all day. Your sitting in class trying to scramble what you missed and what we’re doing today, regretting all those times you couldn’t make it to class. School wasn’t always like this ...

Five Minutes

Image
Flash Fiction: You pushed her too far; no, it was her own decisions. You were too much; she just didn’t know what to do. Your mother is supposed to love you unconditionally; protect you; support you; be there for you. She didn’t do that for you; she walked away, not you. You needed guidance but only got a door in your face. You have five minutes, get out. You needed her. Did she need you? Are you still being selfish? Were you even selfish in the first place? The mind games ache and haunt. Artist Statement: In my self-portrait I decided to have myself behind a glass door; particularly the front door to a house. I did this to represent the part of my flash fiction in which i say, “You needed guidance but only got a door in your face.” I wanted to represent the moment I had to leave my mother’s home. This image gives a little insight into the realities of what happened the day i got kicked out, which is also represented in my flash fiction piece. I used a sad, painful and hurt ...

Life Choices

Image
You are thinking about your life. You are thinking how things went in the past, how things are going now, and how they are going to tur out in the future. You think about the decisions that you are making now, and how they might affect your future. If you keep making the decisions you make now, you will have an unsuccessful future, and your friends will make fun of you, and you’ll still be that loser who still lives with his parents. If you start to make decisions that benefit you, you will begin to make money, have your own money, you can make your own decisions, and possibly live on your own. If you don’t want your future to be terrible, take action now. Get a job and start making money and get the things you want and need. Save for college, a car, anything you have always wanted.   My image is conveying a very serious tone.  My image is thinking about the future, the decisions I make and the consequences of my actions. I never knew how tough is was going to be to pick w...

Life's Regrets, Advice, and Truths

Image
Being weird can be a good thing in life. You may be misjudged by your randomness, but that is just one of your perks . Learn to live life to the fullest and remember the best moments you’ve had. Those memories bring back your beautiful smile. If you ever fall in love, be confident in your choices. If they don't like you for who you are, then they are not worth the time to spend. Remember to not bury your feelings inside. It will cause a lot of a mental toll on your life. You are strong, kind, independent and cheerful. You have always taken care of others dilemmas and replacing it with your kindness. But you do not understand why they never had done the same…You long for finding that special someone in your life. You know it takes a lot of obstacles to go through and it won’t be done in one night. You can be stressed out at times due to all the work you were given with deadlines. You tend to put others before your needs and you are generous to people who are important to you...

Enjoy The Moment

Image
Enjoy the Moment Flash fiction. You never know where life takes you so just take in the moment and enjoy it. Artist statement: i chosen this photo and this flash fiction because people don’t enjoy the moment most of the time. People are in a rush to grow up and leave but yet don’t enjoy it and the flash fiction sums up the photo because the photo takes place outside, enjoying nature and relaxing not worried basically going with the flow.  The text basically saying enjoy life and what you got because you don’t know what you might have next so enjoy it as goes. There might be something happening like a world war 3 when you're older so enjoy it now because in the end you might regret it because you hated it all along because you hated it when you are growing up and when you are older. The reason i chose this photo because it is near my neighborhood and that area is like a safe place for me and i admire the are. Th...

it's a sad world- Abby Farrington

Image
It’s a sad world Flash fiction: It’s a smile. REALITY. It’s not. Artist statement: I chose to do a six-word story with this piece because using just six words the intensity and impact it can have on the reader is huge. I wanted to do that effect with the use of punctuation and capitalization. While tying it into my picture where my picture is simple but has an impact. From what you see is a smile from the paper cut out. Then the reality is its not. The paper smile is covering the sadness and pain I’m hiding underneath the smile that’s shown and put on. I wanted to show the kind of personality I have in my story and picture. When the viewer sees my picture, I want them to know why I was crying, but then why there’s a smile. Its because of my personally, I keep my emotions inside so even on my worst days, you can see me with a smile and think everything is fine. That smile is hiding my emotions. I do this because I don’t want my sad or down emotion to ruin someone’s day, so I lau...

His focus

Image
This is his whole life it comes down to this for him. It what keep him going through school and through life. It helps describe him and explains why he acts the way he does it has been his driving force in life.                 I decided to use this picture for a few reasons other than I like the picture and thought that it looked cool. The picture is completely blurred out except for me. This is to symbolize that almost everything in my life is focused around me and wrestling. With almost every choice I make how it might affect my wrestling is the question in the back of my mind. Wrestling has really helped shape me as a person. I feel the picture and the flash fiction build off each other it helps you get a better understanding of why I chose the picture.   Personality is made up of many different aspects of your life. Many of the experiences in your life help shape the person you are and why yo...

Taller Mountains to Climb

Dark Side

Image
Self-Portrait Flash Fiction             You hug yourself tighter to try and find the slightest bit of comfort. As the tears roll down your face you can’t help but blame yourself for screwing it all up again. You look in the mirror and no matter how hard you try not to, all you see are the flaws. You curse under your breath as the words come flooding to your mind. You try to shut it out and not take to heart what people say, but you find yourself doing so anyways. You believe that you are annoying, you believe you’re dumb, you believe that you’re a crybaby and are always too emotional. You’ve convinced yourself that you’re not good enough. You’ve convinced yourself that how you feel is not okay and that there is something wrong with you. Even when you know there’s not. You begin to cry harder as you let the overthinking take over. You feel so alone when you know that you have people who care and love you. You find all these t...

Regret

Image
You should’ve tried out for the musical, or perhaps even show choir. That’s something you can never go back on. Singing has always been one of your favorite things to do. You should’ve taken more art classes when they were free of charge in high school to find other ways to express yourself. You’ve always wanted to get better at drawing, you know. You should’ve re-joined AYSO, or some other soccer group. You know that soccer was your passion; while club soccer got to be too much and wasn’t your cup of tea, you know AYSO was where you belonged. You should’ve worked harder your junior year. Last year really tanked your GPA and you might not get the salutatorian spot that you’re so close to. You should’ve joined The Plain Brown Wrapper your freshman year and you would’ve had five years of language arts. Even though people tell you those things don’t matter, you know its a failure on your part to fall short on something you very easily could’ve achieved. You knew that these things w...
