I
chose this picture because I think the tube man and I have a lot in common. The
tube man draws a lot of attention, it was created as an advertising device to
get people to notice it and to draw people in wondering what it was or what it
does. I think this relates to me because it feels like where ever I go I seem
like I am the center of attention and tends to draw people in and make them
wonder and question me like someone would with a tube man.
Tube man and I both illustrate the same idea,
we both get a lot of attention and both give off a friendly vibe when seen it relates
to me a lot I am happy a lot and I think I ty and give off a positive and
uplifting feeling when spoken to or with. It portrays a happy and inviting
feeling. I think that iv not been doing the best regarding perspectives, but I
have learned a lot. Although it is challenging this call has already helped me
in the real world with just understanding people’s different views on things
and has just gave me a more open mind. This really helped me chose my
self-portrait it made me think bigger and broader and really take into count
everything that was in the picture and not just focus on one thing.

lot of people think that Humans are rational and independent when it comes to
thinking. They think that they can always have a open mind when it comes to
things they might tell you they don’t take sides and think that nothing in
their mind has any impact on their argument or thoughts of a situation.

“Biases are stories we make up about people before we even
know who they are”(Vivyan).We tend to make things up based on what we hear or see about
someone or something without actually getting to know the person or the thing. “I leaned on bias that I didn’t even know I had”(Vivyan).people can be bias about things without fully knowing, its hard for them to see it but to the person or the thing, it just seems like you are one sided from the start of the situations.

I
think that everyone is a little bias no matter what they say. You can't really
help it, I have lead a lot about it this year, from understanding peoples different views on personality to learning about biases people didn't know they had. Sometimes you can think that
you are not one sided about something but you are and you just don’t notice,
but in some situations you do have a open mind but I think about certain things
if you are arguing or debating you might be more one sided then you think. when i took the
personality test showed me that I was bias on some things when I did not even
know.
I feel like you did a great job taking something deep and making it easy for everyone to understand

ReplyDeleteI honestly can not stop laughing at your photo and quote, it's really funny. Those aside the explaination for the picture is deeper than most would probably expect. Tube men are usually attention getters, like you wrote, however you mentioned how you feel you're the same. The point brought up opens up the doors to deeper questions such as, is being an attention getter always a good thing, or do some people purposefully strive to get peoples attention.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, but your photo is by far the best one that I've seen far. It is so bizarre and hilarious that I have to look at it again for every ten seconds I read your blog. Seeing you as a Tube Man made my day. I'm not saying it to be mean, i'm saying it because your right. You are the center of attention, and that is what draws us to you. Your light-hearted, kind and an extremely funny person. Your comparison to the object is spot on and brilliant. Your six word memoir carries this idea very well. Your they say/I say doesn't really relate to your Tube Man theme, but that's not a bad thing. Maybe more of a comparison would give this a greater value. In the end, a very well done photo and flash fiction with a almost as good reflection.
ReplyDeleteAt first when seeing this piece, I was a little confused as to why you would make your flash fiction and self-portrait all about how you're like a tube man because I was unsure how that would encompass your personality. However, I feel like your artist statement provided an excellent explanation for why. I really enjoyed the explanation you gave for choosing a tube man as your theme. You choosing to use the tube man I feel also explains a lot about your personality. I think we all can kind of relate to the tube man at times.
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I saw your portrait, I was like: "Oh no, here we go again!" But I found that your artist statement was very clear and connected a lot of things I didn't think about. I'm very impressed, but now all I can think about in class when you raise your hand is how you look like a tube man!

ReplyDeleteYour picture is really funny, and by the sounds of it everyone else thinks so too. your six word story has alot of meaning in it, and your authors note did a very god job of explaining your picture and 6 word flash fiction.
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job connecting the role of tube man to your personal life. Your flash fiction and your portrait also complimented each other extremely well. The link you created between the energy you yield and the excitement that the tube man creates was perfect. Overall this was a great blog and I loved reading it.
