She is mature now and she understand the situation and parents problem and what they are going through. She know how to talk and where to talk with people because she was taught by her parents. She raised by a culture where respect is very important.
Artist statement part 2
This picture goes well with my personality because, I am a typical traditional girl, who believe in family values for example my parent tough me to respect everyone and take care of people who care about me too and always nice to people. By looking at my face, I look very innocent and shy girl but inside I am strong girl with positive attitude. I treat people how they treat me. I am a emotional people but i don't like to show my feel in front of people because I am a private person. I act happy around people because I don't want to show my weakness and I don't want them to think I am a weak person.
Reflection part 3
peoples believe that life's not fair. we all have obstacles to overcome. The reality of life is that some of us have to work harder than other to be successful. so, they believe perspective has to do with personal life. people think that because, we all have different perspective based on what we have follow and believed on. people think that because we all come from different country and we believe in different value. All people experience in different way which make people think that we have different perspective on same things.
"Everyone goes through different situation"("race"). "$100 race" trying to show that don't give up thinking your behind with everyone. " you have to run your race even though your behind people, if you want to achieve your goal than you have to run no matter what"("race"). we have our own personal problem to deal with and not everyone have a same problem like yours. people think everything they prejudice is right but they are wrong because if you talk with people than you will know what type of people they are and how nice and kind people they are. you can't judge people by their race and can't make statement by looking at face. Instead of judging people go talk with them and know their life story. I'm pretty sure that statement you made about them will prove wrong.
Growing up as a trans is very hard. They have to go through lot of bad time. people will don't understand them. They judge and bully them. people will say bad things about them." I don't want to be different"( Growing"). They are trying their best to fit with this world by going hospital and doing medical treatment to transform their body to the body they want, so they will be comfortable with it and live a life happily. So, No one can knows that they are transgender. some peoples support them but some don't. For example, when I was watching video, I see some of father don't support their child and they think that is not right. "I'm just afraid with medicial"("Growing").
I believed that based on what we have experience in our life, we see things in different way. when I was in Nepal, I thought united states was a very beautiful and peaceful country because I grew up in small village where I have seen a violences happened. Now I’m living in US, I have seen big crime and now whenever I use social media i see most of video about people being killed and big violences.
I really like your flash fiction and artist statement. Since we are from same culture I can personally relate to your flash fiction.
ReplyDeleteI like the picture. Growing up with a different tradition also made me different than others, i agree with what your saying. Society makes us feel different but we all learn the same thing just in a different way.
ReplyDeleteI like your picture and the glow of the sun makes all better in the way of you saying you're a strong girl and having a positive attitude
ReplyDeleteShalina,
ReplyDeleteEven though I have had you as a student before, your writing gave me a better picture of you as a person. You have faced many struggles that your schoolmates have not. I understand why you don't want to share some of the details about violence you witnessed at home. It's brave of you to mention it here.
Moving to a new country and speaking a different language is hard and scary. Your sari is so beautiful! Just like your dress, most people don't get to see you in Nepali clothes just like people don't really get to see how beautiful and unique Nepali culture is.
I have seen you work hard to do a good job at school, with family, and with your friends. We appreciate you. I'm so glad you're here.
