Enjoy The Moment

                Enjoy the Moment

Flash fiction. You never know where life takes you so just take in the moment and enjoy it.

Artist statement: i chosen this photo and this flash fiction because people don’t enjoy the moment
most of the time. People are in a rush to grow up and leave but yet don’t enjoy it and the flash fiction
sums up the photo because the photo takes place outside, enjoying nature and relaxing not worried
basically going with the flow.  The text basically saying enjoy life and what you got because you don’t
know what you might have next so enjoy it as goes. There might be something happening like a world
war 3 when you're older so enjoy it now because in the end you might regret it because you hated it all
along because you hated it when you are growing up and when you are older. The reason i chose this
photo because it is near my neighborhood and that area is like a safe place for me and i admire the
are. The trees/ nature is a symbol of the world and how it can change over time or people that enjoy
the moment because they are there for a long time and live a long life, the stream is a symbol of life
going with the flow the leaves are a symbol of people that don’t enjoy the moment and want it to be
over and get done with it because the leaves are ones that grow old quickly and die out. Perspectives
so far it helps me with the photo and see the bias perspective of other people because i noticed how
some people don’t enjoy the moment in life and wish the grew up faster or that time would go by faster
. So it helped my point of view because it helped my picture with the stuffed it symbolized.
Also it helped my flash fiction because the same way how i noticed people don’t enjoy the moment
and take it for granite. If i didn’t take perspective i would of struggle with my flash fiction and picture
because i wouldn’t really understand people's views on life and how they enjoy moment or want it to
over faster. I would include some flowers in picture to show life and enjoying it, my face expression
would be like relaxed to show that it is a relaxing place, also included light because that symbolizes
nature/ life of the story and that light is better than dark. Dark is more of a negative tone that is why i
chose light.

Many people say that they don’t got a bias but i believe that everyone has one it may be all different bias or the person might not notice they have a bias. They say things that they might not mean to say or say things and don’t realize because there bias is making the act this way towards who their bias targets. Many things happening on the news in the past and present is mostly bias for example the ku klux klan there were bias towards African American people and Jewish, immigrants and gays because they are different then them but the truth is everyone is different than everyone we all see people different and also have our own biased it is all different then someone else because they might have a stronger opinion than other peoples. Otherwise the recent news with police officers shooting the African American people for no reason, it's because there bias they see them as a target or different from them and they react in a hostile way.
In the documentary “how do we overcome bias? Walk boldly toward them” TED talk, Verna Meyers said that (many people get their bias from how they grew up and who they grew up with or near them been in a shady neighborhood more overprotective or if you have been robbed once you could of started a new bias or showed one that is hidden.) Verna Meyers. She also said the best way to overcome bias is to face it by heading toward what your bias is and confronting it and maybe it will change because you head over to the negativity and understand them. The more we try to cope with our biased and understand them the more they can change into positive biased and not negatives one. She believes this because we can make a change and not just one person is a example of everyone because they all act differently.

I agree with  everyone has a bias that is just hidden deep down inside them every now and then it
pops out and shows the people what their bias is like who it is targeting what type of group it targets.
For example Nazi targets many types of groups or the recent news about police officers and targeting
African Americans using police brutality. Many people have a bias because how they were raised we
don’t have much control on how our bias start because most start when we are young and we here
stuff on news or stuff going on so we imagine it and create bias over that. Our biased is somewhat
influenced with what choices we make for example if you choose to make fun of a group you grow
a bigger bias over that group or if you choose to hang out with one group and not the other group
of kids you may create a bias over the kids you didn’t hang out with. You can cope with the bias
and overcome them by understanding them and facing them. If you were to face them you will
change them for example it could be negative but once you understand them it could turn
positive and you changed it because you started to understand them. Everyone has a biased
and they might be deep down inside them hidden and shows every now and then. I agree that
Verna Meyers is right it is better to face you're bias then be afraid and face them and change them.

  1. I really liked your flash fiction, it reminds me of what my dad always says "don't live in the past, live like its your last day". He always tells me this because he had missed out on a lot of things in in life and doesn't want me to flow in his foot steps.

  2. I liked the message your flash fiction conveyed. It reminds me of those movie protagonists that are too stuck in the past to realize what they've got in front of them.

  6. I like the point of the story, I agree that most people don't enjoy the moment. Do you enjoy the moment? I also really like your artist statement because it really does a good job describing your thoughts and what you meant in your picture and flash fiction. Good job.

  7. I think its so important to take time in the moment to analyze your feelings, your surroundings, whos by your side, etc. because even in a short time of just a few months literally everything could be different. Its important to "stop and smell the roses", if you will.

  8. You're flash fiction really expresses a problem I think our society has. We are to involved with always needing to capture moments of our life's through our lenses, that we're not even seeing them through our eyes. I think one day, our generation will look back at this and regret not taking in the moment.
