With the flow, you never know where you are going to go.

Artist Statement
In the picture you see the water in the distance with a low sunset. The colors are warm to have a relaxing feeling. I chose that because I’m laid back and go with the flow like water. Also the picture is open to have a free feeling since I like to be free and do my own thing. I'm standing more towards the middle because when I meet new people I am standoffish and don't go in depth until I know you better. The flash fiction ties into the picture by having flow of water and the flow of life. It is meant for the reader to have a relax and slow feeling when reading the flash fiction and looking at the picture.

They say/I say
Most people think that everyone has a personality and it changes as you get older or influenced by other people. When talking to older people they say that they use to be hot headed but when they got older they calmed down. When you talk to married couples they say that the person use to act different until they started dating than changed while they were dating. I think that people have a baseline on how they act but they don't have a personality.

Alix Spingle from The Personality Myth podcast went around asking how do personality change in people.She first talked to newly married people and asked them what the others person's personality was. She then talked to two people about their experience at the Ohio prison and how they are changing inmates in their facility. They talked about an inmate named Dan that was poetic and creative. But after learning that he was in prison for rape and asked herself “is there something rotten in his core”(personality). She was thinking that since he did one bad thing in the past that he is always going to be bad person. Alix later talked to him and his experience and he said it was easier to be the bad person everyone saw and knew he was, then to be alone and trying show that was a nice person. She then talked to a psychologist named Walter Mischel and he said that people will always act on how they acted in the past. If you lied in the past then you will always lie, if you committed a crime than you will be named a criminal and you will always act in criminal ways. I disagree because sometimes people act differently depending on the situation.



I think that people have a baseline on the way they act but don't have a personality. People act differently depending on the situation they are in, good people can act differently if they are in a bad situation. Some criminals that have been arrested have been in trapped in a corner and had to steal or rob to get by. They may have done something that they shouldn't of had but they were trying to help their family with money or food. Also if you go to a new school you would act shy or not as outgoing because its a new environment but once you feel comfortable you go back to how you acted at your old school.
