//A Black and White World//
//A Black and White World//
A world made of hate, a world of love. Sin and hatred, Happiness and joy. Two worlds in one mind.

notes:
The story
behind the pictures and the story tell my out look on the rest of the world. It
talks about how I see the outside world as a place that thrives off negative
emotions. It’s a place where men and women fight over pointless conflict. Where
wars ravage the world and destroy its natural wonders. Most humans annoy me for
doing stupid things such as picking fights for no reasons, pretending they own
the world and can do whatever they want. It infuriates me to large extents. The reason for four pictures is to just show off my dogs.
The flip
side to this is I enjoy the comfort of animals and some humans whom I can get
along with. With animals they can be loving and playful. They know when you ae
down and try to cheer you up. They are good companions who will see things
through to the end. The other representation you could get from the collogue
with that it shows me when I’m happy.
Reflection
In the last 8 weeks I have learned
much about both bias and personality. In my opinion I think I have learned more
about bias then personality looking back at such activities as “Growing up
trans” and taking a bias test. In these videos they talk about different biases
but shows a general picture of what a bias is. I have come to believe that bias
is the term used when someone excludes another person or calls them out for
something like their skin color, heritage, conditions, etc. I think a new form
of bias I learned is that people can be bias to things such as personality and
attitudes as well.
In the video “Growing Up Trans”, Bias
is very prevalent. Through out the video it talks about how these kids must
live their lives feeling left out from the group due to them not fitting in
with either genders completely. While a trans girl was interviewing with her
friends the friends pointed this out saying, “Its hard to include her in
somethings such as when the girls are changing, it made her uncomfortable.” She
also went on to state she felt bad having to exclude her from the group.
Another instant of bias was with a Trans boy where he was harassed because he
wanted to change from a boy to a girl. He was even cornered and put down about
it being called names like “dike and bitch. This shows how the world is field
with bias people who go against those who are different or those who change.
I myself had to take a test on bias
to see where I landed in the spectrum of being bias. I am happy to say that I
am not bias. I think this is due in part to my mother who taught me not to distinguish
people from their attributes rather than their personality. I think this class
has made me think about the topic a bit more but other than that I think I’m
not bias and give people a fair chance most of the time if they show others
respect as they would want. I know this sounds a bit bias but I don’t try to
be.
I like the way you relate your dogs to the small amount of people you get along with. I also like how you use personality and bias in your reflection.
ReplyDeleteYour flash fiction was exceptional at telling the story of the current world that we live in. This seem to have been connected to well in the artist statement. I definitely understand the feeling of not wanting to associate with those that do violent or plain stupid things for no apparent reason.
ReplyDeleteI really found your outlook on the world was very interesting in general, and I related to you in general. Fantastic job on the photos and the flash fic.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed how you used 4 photos unlike most people who only chose 1. I also enjoyed how you related your artist statement to how their's so much hatred in the world but when you have an animal/ friend by your side, life can seem much happier than it really is.
ReplyDeleteYou point out in the end that your mom taught you not to be bias, and I was raised in a similar fashion. I too don't understand why people fight over such obscene topics but I've come to realize that nurture plays a role in why people think the way they do.
ReplyDeleteI relate to how you say it bothers you when people pick fights for no reason, when people feel like they can do whatever they want and I also can relate to how you say you enjoy the comfort of animals and some people.
