distance

Image
Mind is wandering but your feet can just go so far. Artist Statement: Ever thought about going so far, running away, seeing new things and visiting new places? My picture shows me in the train station wanting to go further then where my destination would take me. Just to see new things and different people. I picked this picture because it shows me doing something that I love which is traveling but I can’t go as far as my mind is telling me to. The relationship between my text and picture is me doing what I like best but not going as far as I want to. I have come to believe that people bias is the same as their perspective. Reflection: I say, things aren’t often what they first seem and there’s always a different perspective. When I was younger my sisters, mom and I got into car accident on our way home from church. I had big plate of brownies on my lap thinking I was going to home to eat it. But things didn’t go as plan due to the car accident it dropped. I really wa...

Davids Flow

Image
Flash Fiction With the flow, you never know where you are going to go. Artist Statement In the picture you see the water in the distance with a low sunset. The colors are warm to have a relaxing feeling. I chose that because I’m laid back and go with the flow like water. Also the picture is open to have a free feeling since I like to be free and do my own thing. I'm standing more towards the middle because when I meet new people I am standoffish and don't go in depth until I know you better. The flash fiction ties into the picture by having flow of water and the flow of life. It is meant for the reader to have a relax and slow feeling when reading the flash fiction and looking at the picture. They say/I say Most people think that everyone has a personality and it changes as you get older or influenced by other people. When talking to older people they say that they use to be hot headed but when they got older they calmed down. When you talk to married couples they say ...

Her

Image
Flash Fiction She’s different, unique, one of a kind. She does what makes her happy with no intention of offending people. She’s usually neutral with opinions because she doesn’t like to anger anyone. For the most part she likes to stay in the background, observing everyone else. She prides herself on having her own style because it’s practically the only way people notice her. The main reason she stays in the shadows is because there’s a lot of room for failure when talking to other people and she just really doesn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings. She’s very comfortable in her own skin or so you might think. However, she tries to cover herself as much as she can, in an attempt, to hide herself from the world. She’s confident in who she is but shy when it comes to others.  Artist’s statement My piece of art is a cartoon-like version of myself that reflects my visual presence. I put myself in an outfit that is both professional and comfortable to show that I am co...

Cop life

Flash fiction Family, community, work under microscope Artist statement Then I choose to do a six word story since it is simple but yet very complex to convey a story in such a short format. This story is placed at a place that I could see myself in the future as a law enforcement officer. It shows the struggle of working under a political microscope. Reflection Many people have come to believe that personality is stagnant in a person. They think this because from their point of view others around them don’t seem to change that much. But I feel that this perception is incorrect.

A Reflection from Within

Image
A Reflection from Within Self-Portrait Project By Anna Cater Mirror You step into the mirror. A face looks back at you. But it’s not your own. Visually, you see a blonde girl, bags under her grey eyes, pale, but that’s only what returns your gaze. To others, she is an intelligent, witty, smiling girl. What you can’t see is the many layers underneath the pale skin, glazed over with internal conflicts, a soul as complex and layered as an onion. The mirror can’t reflect that she has an internal war going on in her head everyday, friends or him? The mirror can’t echo the places she has been, the things she has seen and done. The mirror fails to show that her mind is like a wilting plant, with validation being the water. The mirror can’t reflect that she has negative monologue on repeat in her head, scripted by her peers. Just go away. You’re a burden. You need to act normal. You’re so ignorant, it’s comical. The mirror can’t show that she fears for her life everyday. Th...

Power of Emotion with Biases - Luka Novick

Image
Power of Emotions with Biases Do not let you temper go. It’s another beautiful Friday night under the lights. It’s one of the biggest rivalry games in the state. They had been running their mouths all week about the game because they think they’re going to win. They’ve seen on game film that you had a short temper and they were going to try to abuse that to get any type of advantage that they could. Everyone’s emotions were high in this game because it was win or go home situation for both teams. They’re going to run their mouths, they’re going to try to set you off; cheap shots, shit talking, getting in your face. They’re going to talked about your girl, and you, and your team and probably the worst, they’re going to talk about your mom. They want you to lose your temper and do something you’ll regret but you can’t give them what they want because you know what will happen to you. They’ll test you and test you until… “BOOM” You blew up, they got in your head and you retaliated. He g...

50's and Back

Image
Flash Fiction: Old School and new school together, is the best way to live. Artist Statement: The reason behind the old school and new school concept is its who I am. I’m a new school person, I like the technology and the advancements of stuff. I’m also an old school person because I like to look at old things and see the history behind it. Also I like it because in my childhood my dad took me to car shows. The artwork of my picture symbolizes bright colors on the truck which back in the 50s, vehicles came in bright colors. The importance of the statement is that you can mix and match things that you wouldn’t think they go together until you try it. Both work together because I’m a new school person in an old school car and that’s what my flash fiction is about. Reflection:                 People in our generation when talking about personality think about what others think of them and how they co...
